In 2007, Samantha was diagnosed with IGM Nephropathy, which progressed to Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, which is leading cause of kidney failure in adults. Currently, her kidneys are functioning at 15%, compared to yours which function normally at 60-100%. If her kidneys go much lower she will have to be put on dialysis. By getting a transplant she will be able to avoid this, which is something that can be very hard on the body and mind. On Monday May 1st she was told that she's gone from Stage 4 to Stage 5 failure and has to start in-home dialysis. |
